Description
Nearly 70% of the US population owns a smartphone. Smartphone ownership among millennials, Gen X is over 90%. Smartphones are ubiquitous among consumers ages 18-24 with 95.7% penetration. 47.2% of senior citizens ages 65 and older use a smartphone.

Smartphones are any voice handset with an advanced operating system (e.g., Android, BlackBerry, iOS, Windows Phone) and features/capabilities that resemble a PC.

Estimates are based on the analysis of survey and traffic data from research firms and regulatory agencies; historical trends; and country-specific demographic and socioeconomic factors.
