US Back-to-School Retail Spending According to US Parent Internet Users, by Timeframe, June 2019 (billions)

Description

US parents of school-aged children were asked when they expect to make back-to-school purchases. The chart shows the expected total spend by time periods from July to September.

Methodology

Data is from the July 2019 Deloitte report titled "2019 Back-to-School Shopping: Getting ready for the first day of school." 1,200 US parent internet users of school-aged children were surveyed online during May 31-June 6, 2019. Parents had at least one child attending school in grades K-12 this fall. The margin of error is +/-3 percentage points.
