Additional Note: In-app purchases refers to the buying of virtual goods and Subscriptions from inside an app. The purchases are processed directly through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Virtual goods includes purchasing coins in a game to unlock new levels, or buying new filters in a photo app. Subscriptions include auto-renewable or one-time Subscriptions purchases. In-app purchases exclude spending in commerce apps such as Amazon, rideshare apps like Uber, or other apps where the purchase is not processed directly through Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Methodology: Estimates are based on the analysis of survey and traffic data from research firms and regulatory agencies; historical trends; and country-specific demographic and socioeconomic factors.
