Includes food services and drinking places sales, includes travel and event tickets, payments (such as bill pay or money transfers), mail orders, and gambling and other vice good sales; includes sales tax. Transaction value reported as inside the United States is based on the location of the card issuer and thus can include cross border purchases and purchases while the card holder is abroad.
Methodology: Estimates are based on the analysis of data from the US Department of Commerce and the Federal Reserve, estimates from other research firms, estimates on card transactions and purchases, reported company payment value figures, consumer buying trends, payment adoption trends and macro-level economic conditions.
